At MimeCure, we focus on serious lung diseases where damage to the lung tissue limits breathing and quality of life. Our work centers on conditions for which current treatments cannot repair the lung itself. Two of our main focus areas are Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF).

COPD is a long-term lung disease that makes it difficult to breathe. It is most often caused by smoking or long-term exposure to harmful particles in the air. In people with COPD, the tiny air sacs in the lungs become damaged over time, making it harder for oxygen to enter the bloodstream. This can lead to shortness of breath, fatigue, and a reduced ability to perform everyday activities.
Current treatments for COPD can ease symptoms and reduce flare-ups, but they do not repair the damaged lung tissue. At MimeCure, we focus on supporting the lung’s natural ability to heal itself. By promoting repair of the air sacs, our approach aims to go beyond symptom relief and address one of the underlying causes of the disease.

Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) is a rare and serious lung disease in which the lung tissue becomes scarred and stiff over time. The word “idiopathic” means that the exact cause is unknown. As the lungs become less flexible, breathing becomes increasingly difficult and oxygen uptake is reduced.
Available treatments for IPF can slow the worsening of the disease, but they cannot reverse existing lung scarring or restore healthy lung tissue. MimeCure focuses on therapies that support healthy lung repair and help counteract the processes that lead to scarring. Our goal is to preserve lung function for as long as possible and improve the daily lives of people living with IPF.
